Jim and Marjorie Denman Tournament 2014

JIM & MARJORIE DENMAN MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT.

The last Club Tournament of the season took place on Sunday 28th September when 24 members met on a sunny warm afternoon to play in the Jim & Marjorie Denman Mixed Doubles Memorial Tournament. As always we had some good competitive and enjoyable Tennis which was played out over 5 hours.

The Group Rounds gave everybody the chance to play with or against players they may well have not of come up against much during the season which made for some interesting matches. The 8 Group winners were Jackie Corbie, Emma Burnett, Patricia Pollard and Margaret Oldfield from the Ladies section and James Denman, Stephen Milonas, Martin Patrick and Steve Arnold from the Mens section.

The 2 semi-finals were keenly contested and as a result Patricia Pollard, Jackie Corbie, Stephen Milonas & Steve ArnoldĀ  moved forward to play in the Final deciding matches. After 2 close first to 10 points matches Patricia Pollard & Stephen Milonas came out on top and so we have two new names to be engraved on the Trophies.

Thank you to everybody that took part and those that came along to watch and help out in what ever way they did and also to Tony Denman who took on the responsibility of organising the Tournament which gave me a nice break and the chance to play this year.

That sadly is the end of another Tennis season but Paul will continue to keep things going on the hard courts until the clocks go back towards the end of October so he will be pleased to see you if you can get along. I hope many of you can get some Tennis in during the winter months and then we can look forward to another season next year and hopefully it will be enjoyable once again and may be more successful!

Two dates for your diary. The AGM will be towards the end of February/ early March (date to be confirmed) and I would anticipate that the 1st Club session will be Monday 30th March 2015

Enjoy your Winter Tennis Mick
