We have a new name on the trophy which has been played for since 1977 – Congratulations James Maddox. After five rounds of matches James came out on top with 26 points. The runner-up with 25 points was Andy Prim.
There was some impressive tennis played during the afternoon and everybody gave a good account of themselves. Thank you Phyllis for organising the event and to the several other members who came along to watch. See the photos in the Gallery!
2017 Anne Leegood Tournament (Ladies doubles)
On Sunday 30th July 2pm start – organised by Neil Dickson. Another lovely afternoon in the company of the wonderful ladies of Hove Park. The Ann Leegood again produced some very classy tennis with very little between all competitors, so it proved to be a tight affair. Four players finished in a tied 2nd place with 17 points apiece – well done Margy, Claire, Morna and Sue Sinclair. However top of the tree with 20 points each were Angie and Pauline who ended up joint winners – well played to both of you. See the photos in the Gallery!
2017 JIM & MARJORIE DENMAN Memorial Tournament
On Sunday 17th September 2017 a cross section of members from various teams met to play in the annual Jim and Marjorie Denman memorial mixed doubles tournament. The weather was kind to us on this occasion which helped to make it an enjoyable afternoon for players and spectators. There was some very good and competitive tennis played during the afternoon. We started with six rounds of matches in which each player played in four rounds. The successful group winners were Jo Davis, Dinah Rae, Rita O’Regan and Margaret Oldfield from the ladies section and Darren Pollard, Stephen Milonas and Martin Patrick from the mens section.. Steve Arnold and Thomas Pollard finished equal on games won but Steve kindly let Thomas have the chance to go through. After two keenly contested semi-finals Jo Davis and Rita and Stephen and Martin went through to the final to play out two 10 point tie breaks to decide the winners of the tournament.
Once again all four finalists played very well but just as in 2015 the winners were Jo Davis and Stephen Milonas.

2016 Jack Ellis Tournament (Mens Doubles)
On a Sunday 24th July 2pm start – organised by Phyllis Hadley.
Josh Pollard completed a winning double this weekend as he followed up yesterday’s success in winning the Brighton Parks men’s singles by coming out on top in this afternoon’s Jack Ellis Tournament. Phyllis arranged her usual picker mix of pairings and the 16 men played 39 games over 5 rounds. It looked as though everybody was having a good tennis session with the intra club rivalry. At the end Josh had won with 29 pts, with Alan Swift coming second with 24 pts and then Williiam Delabre, Iain Stewart and Simon Sumner all with 23 pts. Thanks to all that played, Phyllis for organising and all those who came along to watch. See the photo in the Gallery!
2016 Anne Leegood Tournament (Ladies doubles)
This Ladies Doubles Tournament was held on Sunday 3rd July at 2pm, organised by Neil Dickson.
A lovely afternoon was spent in a sunny Hove Park, well done to everybody. All 12 ladies played their part in making it an enjoyable Tournament to play in and also to watch. A big thank you to Neil who kept things running along smoothly. After 4 rounds of 8 games each, we were all able to sit down and enjoy Emma’s lovely cake. Neil announced that Carmel came 3rd with 19 pts, Winnie was 2nd with 20 pts and the winner this year was Emma Burnett with 21 pts. A few photos are in the Gallery!
2016 JIM & MARJORIE DENMAN MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
This was played on Sunday September 25th at 1pm – organised by Tony Denman/Mick Cox.
On a sunny late September afternoon the Jim & Marjorie Denman memorial tournament took place. We were able to get twenty four members to take part and thanks to all of you for playing. We had six rounds of good competitive matches in which each player played four times. The points were added up to see who went through to the semi-final rounds and the winning eight were Penny, Pam, Patricia and Michelle from the ladies section and James D, Josh, Fariss and Stephen from the mens… section. The semi-finals were good fairly close games which lead to Penny, Michelle, Josh and Fariss having the chance to play in the final. The outcome was that Josh gained sixteen points and beat Fariss by one point and Michelle won twenty points to beat Penny who gained eleven points. We now have two new names on the trophies as neither Josh (yes something he has not won!) and Michelle are both first time winners. A few photos are in the Gallery!

2011 Club Tournament Results
The 2011 finals day was a great event for both the spectators and those who played. The eventual winners were:
Josh Pollard beat Tony Denman to take the men’s singles title. Likely to be the first of many !
Keeping it in the family Patricia Pollard lifted the ladies singles title.
Des O’Dell and Andy Primm came through a hard 3 sets against Farris Barakat and James Denman to be crowned mens doubles champions.
Patricia Pollard and Sasha Long became Ladies Doubles champs beating Rita O’Regan and Morna Fox.
Patricia completed a clean sweep when she ended up winning the mixed doubles with Des. The duel at dusk saw them seeing off a stiff challenge from Dave Tulley and Elaine Luckly.
