Week 7 saw our Teams have some good victories with just a couple of disappointing results.
Our Tuesday opponents gave us a helping hand with Stanford C and Hollingbury A both conceding two pairs which helped Hove C and Hove D win their respective matches 4-0 Hove E were able to field a full Team but came up against a strong Dyke D and lost 1-3. Our only winners were Chris Lilley and Suzie Pettit who had a close match but won 6-2 2-6 6-4
On Wednesday Hove B had a really good victory away to Blakers A winning 3.5-0.5. The mens doubles pair of James Denman and Andy Prim had a close match but eventually won 7-5 4-6 6-4 and Morna Fox and Maddy Dunckley all so had a close match which they halved 4-6 6-3. The mixed pairings of the Pollard family and Margaret Oldfield won both matches.
I watched the Hove A v Dyke B match and it was good so see such competitive and good quality Tennis being played. Hove A gained 5 points from the match with Martyn Howe and Nicki Swann having a great win 5-7 6-4 6-2 in the 1st mixed and even though Gary Pugh and Hilary Jewers lost the 2nd mixed in 3 sets they also played really well. Neil Dickson and Steve Arnold won a close mens doubles 6-3 7-6 and Lou Burchill and Sarah Barr gained another point for the team when they halved their match 3-6 7-6 2-1.
A much changed Hove 1st team found Dyke to strong on the night on Thursday and lost 0-4.
I hope if you are not celebrating the Diamond Jubilee on monday members will be able to get to club session which this year has been really well surported.
Until next week….
