Captain’s Comments 13th April – 19th May 2013

The Brighton Parks League season is now well and truly underway and 56 members have already had the chance to play for the Club in our various teams.

We have only had one wet evening so the matches have nearly all been played and overall we are having a fairly satisfying season so far. All 6 Teams are comfortably placed in their respective Divisions with Hove A at the moment doing really well and head the 2nd Division and Hove D are also top in the 4th Division. Having said that I hope it does not change our fortunes! Those members who have not had a League game will get a chance fairly soon as I know there are a lot of members keen to play league matches this season which is a really good situation for Hove Park Tennis Club.

This afternoon, Sunday 19th May we held the above mentioned Tournament. We had 16 men able to take part on a sunny afternoon which resulted in some good, keen and competitive Tennis. The Memorial Mens Doubles Tournament has been held yearly since 1977 and a new name now goes on the Shield. One of our fairly new younger members Kai Jonas came out on top gaining 25 points. In second place was another new member Andy Brown who won 24 points and in 3rd place was Andy Prim with 23 points. A special thank you to Phyllis Hadley who arranged and organised the Tournament on the day.

See you on the court soon I hope!
